Health & Wellness Ministry In November

On a perfect sunny, cool October Sunday afternoon, 19 St. Luke's members gathered at Denison University Nature Reserve for the spiritual fall walk. As Westerners we tend to reduce and separate our understandings. In the process we lose sight of the wholeness of God's creation. We gathered under the walnut tree to examine the fractal geometry that is seen throughout the plant and animal kingdom. (Look for it in an asparagus head the next time you eat God's gift.)

Our path was lined with waving goldenrods and squirrel tail grasses. The vernal pond at the bottom of the hill had dried up. The vines growing up the tree trunks had lost their leaves. The field swallow houses had been removed. The dogwood leaves were purplish, and maples were golden. Fallen leaves crunched underfoot and flowed between ohhhs and ahhhs. God had a message for each of us. Thank you, Dr. Jimi James, for another unique  and informative fall walk.

The annual Winter Solstice Healing service will be held on Saturday, December 21. Please mark your calendars now for this beautiful and moving candlelight service. All are welcome, and a special invitation to all those who have lost a loved one in the last year is always issued. This is an ecumenical service and all the Granville Ministerium churches are invited. More details will follow in the bulletin and on St. Luke's web page.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry new program year is off to a great start! We have had 6 people come together to knit and plan upcoming projects. In September, we spent a lovely Saturday together at the Wool Gathering in Yellow Springs, OH. Our trip was blessed with beauty, creative inspiration, warm fellowship, and of course, some shopping. In November we return to our regular schedule and gather in the Parish House on the first and third Thursdays of the month. We hope to see you there! No knitting or crocheting experience is required.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Health and Wellness Ministry will be after the 11:00 service on Sunday, November 24 in the Parish House. All are invited!
