"Good Inside" Lenten Book Study:
Living Our Baptismal Vows at Home
Wednesday Evenings | Feb. 25-April 1 | 7-8 pm | via Zoom
This virtual Lenten book study is for parents and caregivers at all ages and stages. Together we’ll be reading Good Inside by child psychologist Dr. Becky Kennedy, placing her ideas alongside our Baptismal Covenant.
We’ll explore what it means to raise children who are already loved, worthy, and held by God. We’ll also reflect on how a compassionate, relationship-centered approach to parenting resonates with our baptismal promises: to seek Christ in all people, to respect the dignity of every human being, and to grow together in love.
No theology background required—just curiosity, openness, and a desire to learn. Groups may choose to join the Zoom meeting from a common location, or participate individually from home.
Through honest conversation and practical reflection, parents and caregivers will be supported in translating these shared values into everyday family life. We’ll also learn more about giving ourselves grace when we miss the mark with our kids!
Invitees: All are welcome. This study is especially geared toward parents and caregivers.
Cost: Free

Pop-Up Candlemas Celebration
January 31 & February 2 | at Procter Center
All are invited to come and celebrate Candlemas, the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, through a series of multi-cultural events at Procter Center.
On Saturday, January 31st, Xandra Sharpe (chef and kitchen manager at Procter) and the Rev. Gerardo Romo Garcia (missioner for Latino ministries) will lead a free tamale making workshop from 3-5 pm.
Then on Monday, February 2nd (the Feast of Candlemas!) spend an evening at Procter, enjoying an international Candlemas Dinner at 6 pm. For $10, we’ll feast together on tamales from Mexico, crepes from France, and more! We’ll also have the opportunity to share together some Candlemas craft activities.
After dinner, join us for SING! Candlelit Holden Evening Prayer, Blessing of the Candles, and a Winter Hymn Sing led by Nathan Greer (co-executive director at Procter Center) and Stephen Sollars (organist at St. John’s, Worthington). There’s no cost to join our service and hymn sing!
Overnight accommodations are available for the evening of Feb. 2 for an additional cost.
