Movie Night, September 12

6:30PM | Parish House | Showing: “Nothing But A Man”

On Friday, September 12. 2025, we will feature, from 1964, the movie “Nothing But A Manz".  Made at the height of the civil rights movement, the film presents a groundbreaking, honest, and more than 50 years on, still resonant, portrait of Black working-class life in America.

The film was the directorial debut for Micheal Roemer and stars Ivan Dixon and Abbey Lincoln. Initially, it drew international acclaim, but did not do well in the United States, until its re-release in 1994. In that year, it was both hailed by The Washington Post as “one of the most sensitive films about black life ever made in this country” and added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.

As usual, we’ll gather at the Parish House at 6:30 pm and begin the movie at 7:00 pm. Bring your own snacks to share.
