School Supply Drive

In Newark, the elementary school closest to Market Street Pantry is Ben Franklin Elementary. Ben Franklin has been the recipient of our collection for many years and for many reasons.

Many of you do not realize that Ben Franklin Elementary has about 91% of the students qualifying at poverty level.

When St. Luke’s contacted principal Dena Cable-Miller, she forwarded us their WISH LIST of needed supplies. These are items that they can never seem to get enough of. (Also, items that they DO NOT NEED.)

WISH LIST:

  • Tissues

  • Baggies (sandwich size & gallon size)

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Glue sticks

  • Bottles of glue

  • Dry erase markers

  • Pencils

  • Pencil top erasers

  • Pencil boxes

  • Crayons

  • Scissors

  • Headphones that plug into the computer

ITEMS NOT NEEDED: loose leaf paper, rulers, & pens.

Last year we learned that there were school and technology fees, and many of you provided monetary support for those fees. Principal Cable-Miller noted that many of the children who are at poverty level, have their fee’s waved and that monetary donations are not needed.

However, if you are unable to purchase any of the Wish List school supplies, but would like to donate, you may write a check to St. Luke’s and note in the memo “school supplies”, and the office will purchase the supplies for you!

Please drop off the supplies in the tub labeled “School Supplies” in the Narthex or drop off at the Parish House.

For more information, please contact the office at office@stlukesgranville.org.
