Friday Night Movies In June

Come, and bring your friends, for any (or all) of the three movie nights happening in May at the Parish House.

First, on Friday, June 20, 2025, we will feature the movie "Dear Heart", from 1955, directed by Delbert Mann and including a title tune by Henry Mancini. Glenn Ford play errant-but-earnest Harry, dutifully engaged to a calculating small-town matron (Angela Lansbury).

A week later, on Friday, June 27, 2025, we'll show "The Horn Blows at Midnight", a comedic fantasy movie, from 1945, in which Jack Benny plays an innocent angel, named Athanael, a trumpet-player in Heaven’s Orchestra, set down by Heaven’s “front office” with a dubious assignment. Because persecution and hatred have soared out of control, he is tasked with initiating Earth’s annihilation. To do so, he must play the first four notes of “The Judgement Day Overture,” precisely at midnight from a hotel rooftop. Things become hilariously botched when, upon his arrival, earthly distractions and temptations arise which thwart the completion of his assignment.

Each time, we’ll gather at 6:30 pm and roll the movie at 7:00 pm. Bring your own snacks.
