Senior Warden News

Hello St. Luker’s,

It’s been a while since I’ve written and there has been so much going on in the life of the church.

My focus has been working with the Discernment team and the Vestry to make the transition of Father Michael and his family to Granville go smoothly. Wayne and I recently had the opportunity to meet Aimee and Katherine Ralph, Michael’s wife and daughter, and spent time answering their questions and getting to know them a bit. I think the whole family is as excited to meet us and settle in as we are for them to be here.

I must admit this move has me scratching my head a bit. I just spent the morning at a beach service in Edisto, SC enjoying the music with the disappearing moon to one side of me and the rising sun to the other. The priest wore shorts and a collar and most of us took communion in bare feet while the surf licked at our heels. I attend this service every time I come here.

For those of you who are unaware, Father Michael’s current home is across the street from the beach in West Hampton, NY. Being a lifelong Ohioan I can’t imagine giving that up! However, the truth is, Michael and his family can’t wait to get back to this part of the country and luckily for us everything has fallen into place to make this happen.

Over the past few months Michael and I have had many phone calls, e-mails and texts covering a range of topics from personal to down-right silly. Throughout our conversations it has been clear that from the minute he met the discernment team and Vestry, Michael has been praying for us and keeping us in his thoughts. He is ready to meet each and everyone of you, get into his office and get to work and lead us where we want to go.

I hope all of you are also looking forward to meeting the Ralph family. Mark your calendars as we’ll be celebrating with a welcoming/get-to-know-you celebration on August 18th.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Michelann
