Notice is hereby given of the Annual Meeting of St. Luke’s Church, Granville, Ohio on Sunday, February 4, 2018.  There will be an 8:00 am and 10:00 am celebration of the Holy Eucharist that morning, and the luncheon and meeting will take place immediately following the 10:00 am service. 

The purpose of the Annual Meeting shall be to elect Vestry members; to receive reports by the Vestry officers, and organizations of the Parish; and to conduct any other business that can properly come before the meeting.

A Nominating Committee has been formed by the Vestry, whose members will place a slate of candidates for Vestry before the Annual Meeting.  The terms of four members of the Vestry: Vicki Reed, Sally McClaskey, Tom Wortham and Michelann Scheetz – expire as of the Annual Meeting.  The congregation will be electing four new members to serve three-year terms.

Lunch will be served upstairs immediately following the 10:00 am service.  Child care will be provided for children through 1:00 pm, and lunch will be served for them in the Undercroft.

VOTING ELIGIBILITY FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING                                                  

Article I, Section 3 of the Code of Regulations of St. Luke’s defines Communicants in Good Standing as follows:

All communicants of St. Luke’s Church who for the previous year have been faithful in corporate worship, unless for good cause prevented, and have been faithful in working, praying, and giving financially to St. Luke’s Church, are to be considered communicants in good standing.  This determination shall be made by the Wardens.

Article II, Section 1E  

Persons eligible to vote in the Annual Meeting shall be those sixteen years of age or older who have been Communicants in Good Standing, as verified by Church records, for not less than six months preceding the day they wish to vote.  A list of eligible voters, compiled by the Parish Administrator and Wardens, and approved by the Vestry, shall be available at the meeting.  Ballots will be distributed only to eligible voters.

Karen C. Dowdy-Fullin was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She is proud of her family:  parents, James and Sue Dowdy, her sister Raquel, and her brothers Ronald and Kevin.  She was baptized at age 7 in 1955 and was raised and remained a member of Zion Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio until she moved to Columbus in 1978.  Upon arriving in Columbus, she made her church home St. Philip Episcopal Church until she and her husband’s move to Granville, Ohio in 2001.  Her husband, Daniel E. Fullin, is a regulatory attorney with a 38-year career at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.  Both are members of St. Luke’s Church.

She has achieved success in three separate professional careers.  She is the holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio.  Karen has a thirty-year career as a research laboratory scientist:  eight years at Merrell Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio, where her research focused on acne and birth control; four years of cancer drug research at Adria Laboratory in Columbus, Ohio; and eighteen years at Battelle Memorial Institute, researching detergents, artificial sweeteners, and biological/germ warfare.

Karen’s Master of Business Administration Degree is from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.  Since 2006, Karen has been involved in her current career, as a Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Specialist for an assortment of Medical Device Manufacturers.  This latest career has involved travel and stays, of varying durations, in a number of States, including Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. 

Karen holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from Columbus State Community College.  Her nursing career includes four years at St. Anthony’s Hospital and three years at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Karen volunteers at “The Works” in Newark (Marcia Downes, Executive Director) with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program.  

Karen’s hobbies include crocheting, card making, dancing, and cooking.

Jared Circle – A native of Central Ohio, Jared attended Otterbein College and graduated with a BA in English. 

Afterwards he spent 2 years abroad, living in Seoul, Korea with my wife, Kristin to study and train in martial arts. We moved back to Columbus in 2005 to start our family. 

Jared is the business owner of Koguryo Martial Arts School in Westerville since 2005 and moved to Granville and joined St. Luke’s in 2015.

My wife and I have three children Jack, Ethan, and Kira. 

Barb Mighton – Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Barb attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto and graduated in Nursing.  She continues to work as an RN in Newark.   Barb and her husband Steve moved to Granville twice and have been members of St Luke’s twice!  Barb has been married to Steve for 28 years.  They have two young adult children-Stacey 25 and Thomas 23.  Over her years at St Luke’s, Barb has taught church school and was a Middle School Youth Group leader.  Barb was an original member of the Membership Committee and served on it for approximately 10 years.
