LENTEN PROGRAM: LIVING THE QUESTIONS

People know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer the human race. At the same time, many have a sense that they are alone in being a “thinking” Christian and that “salvaging” Christianity is a hopeless task. What is needed is a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic.

During Lent, the United Church of Granville in cooperation with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will offer five of the 21 DVD based sessions from Living the Questions, a popular video & internet-based small group exploration of progressive Christianity featuring premier religion voices of our day. These include Diana Butler Bass, Marcus Borg, Walter Brueggemann, John Shelby Spong, and others .

The group will meet at United Church of Granville for soup, bread, fellowship and discussion on 5 Thursdays: Feb. 22, March 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 6 PM – 8PM. Come and share your questions and your spiritual journey as we deepen our connections with each other and with God.  You can learn more about the program at https://www.livingthequestions.com/xcart/home.php?cat=366

Please let us know that you plan to attend by calling the church office at St. Luke’s (740) 587-0167 or UCG (740) 587-0336 or e-mailing Caroline Cook uuceejay@gmail.com. It is not necessary to commit to attending all sessions, but we would like some idea of the amount of handouts to print and the amount of soup and bread we need.
