“Keeping Lent”
In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus says, “When you give alms…when you pray…when you fast…” He doesn’t say “if,” he assumes that all of his followers observe these disciplines. Please join us for a discussion-centered approach to how you might incorporate these disciplines into your life, particularly as we enter the season of Lent.
Church School
10:15 am to 11:00 am
Children’s Church School program in the Parish House for grades Pre-K through 8. Gathering Time on the first floor of the Parish House, led by Terry Applegate. Children will get ready for the morning’s lesson and have their snack together as a group.
Kindergarten & First grade – upstairs in the west room overlooking Main Street
Second & Third grade – upstairs, center classroom
Fourth & Fifth grade – upstairs, Father Fehr’s former office
Middle School (grades 6-7-8) – downstairs, Father Applegate’s office
A new program for nursery-aged children will take place at the same time in the Undercroft nursery. Children will have a short lesson with a story and simple activity under the direction of a teacher. Our nursery care providers will still be present for infants and children who do not want to participate.
The focus for children in nursery through fifth grade will be on Bible stories, using an interactive “hands-on curriculum,” starting with the first stories in Genesis. The Middle School class will be an active discussion group that encourages youth to explore their faith through their actions and those of real Bible people.
Adults are welcome to participate in the children’s Sunday morning program by leading classes and activities. Your commitment can be one month or the entire program year. For more details, contact Sally McClaskey at education_stlukes@windstream.net or 587-0506.
