Celebrating Independence Day this Sunday at both Services

Granville’s Fourth of July celebration kicks off on Saturday, July 1.  East Broadway is closed from Main Street to Pearl Street.  There will be no parking in front of St. Luke’s this coming Sunday, July 2.  Parishioners are encouraged to share rides, to walk if able, and to park behind the church in the public lot and in Park National Bank’s parking lot.

This Sunday, we’ll use lessons appropriate for the Fourth, and pray the Collect appointed for Independence Day in The Book of Common Prayer. We’ll sing hymns from the National Songs section of The Hymnal 1982. Following the 10:00 am service, we’ll join for “Apple Pie with the Applegates” in the Undercroft.
Choir for Margo Santoni’s Service
To honor Margo’s longstanding love and support of music, anyone who wishes to join choir members in singing at Margo’s service is welcome to do so. Rehearsal will be at Swasey Chapel prior to the service on Thursday (rehearsal will tentatively be at 12:30 pm or 1:00 pm – details to follow). Anyone interested or having questions is urged to contact Steve Trumbull, Director of Music at The memorial choir is not limited to members of St. Luke’s so if you know of anyone who would like to sing, please invite them to contact Steve.

Kick off of the Ingathering of School Supplies

We’ll kick off the ingathering of school supplies on Sunday, July 2, and complete the collection on Sunday, August 6.  By spreading the collection of supplies over several weeks, we hope to give members who are traveling or on vacation the opportunity to contribute.  The plan is to deliver supplies to Ben Franklin Elementary, the elementary school that serves the same community as Market Street Pantry, and let the teachers and staff decide how items should be distributed.

Two colorful tubs will be at St. Luke’s into which supplies can be placed.  If you prefer to make a monetary donation, we are happy to shop for the items for you.  Please make your check out to St. Luke’s Church and put “school supplies” in the memo line.  On behalf of the many children who will benefit, thank you!
